About the ClanThe Cats of the Sierra live as one. All for one, one for all. From the moment kits can hear, that is what they are taught.
The Sierra are led by two forces. The Council, a group of retired warriors and queens who make all the descisions for the clan, and carry out ceremonies. To be come a councillor is the life's goal for most cats of the Sierra. The other force that leads the Sierra is the supervisor. The supervisor makes daily choices for the clan, such as selecting the patrols, and deciding which which warriors will mentor the apprentices daily. [There are no assigned mentors, it changes daily] Below the supervisor are the warriors, who hunt daily for the clan and train apprentices. Kits become apprentices after four cycles of the moon.
The member of the clan who has the closest connection to TideStars, the warrior ancestors of the clan, is the healer, who cares for the sick and weak of the clan. Queens expecting or nursing kits live with the healer in their den. The healer also interprets different signs of the sky and tides to predict the weather. They can often tell if it will rain the next day, or shine. The healer is also responsible for training an apprentice to be the successor when the healer dies or retires.

NamesCats of the Sierra go through name changes as they gain experience. When they are born, they recieve an insignifigant name, such as Speck. As they train as an apprentice, they learn to swim, hunt and fight. When they are ready to recieve their warrior name, they must pass a test of mastery, handed down from the clan's ancestors. They must swim to the bottom of the sea cave, and select a shell from the bottom of the sea floor. From the shell selected, and other traits of their personality, they recieve a life name, selected by the council, which is a reflection of who they are. Examples of these names could be Wave or Swirl.

Checks and BalancesBoth the supervisor and the council have quite a lot of power in the clan, however neither side has too much. There a system sort of checks and balances within the clan between both forces.
Example;
The council can conduct the ceremony to make a kit a apprentice.
The supervisor chooses daily who the apprentices will train with
